Joining a sorority is not necessary to have a great college experience; however, it is the sorority itself that keeps you connected past college, in some ways better than most other opportunities could. I've studied abroad, worked in housing/residence life, participated in student organizations, attended luncheon with the UF President and Board of Trustees, attended leadership retreats... but none of those experiences have remained as persistently present in my life as KPL. Sisterhood means lifelong friendships, a network of support (in all stages of life), professional development, and so much more. I owe so much to Kappa Phi Lambda. No sorority is "easy work" -- if you're only interested in wearing the letters, look elsewhere. This sisterhood is made up of womxn who work hard as Sisters every day to uphold our letters. I am beyond grateful to UF Kappas for my experience and am honored to be a part of its legacy. Go Gators!

My favorite memory with Kappas has to be when we rented out a room at Stage 7 Karaoke and just scream/sung all our favorite songs, hyping each other up and sending out good vibes. This was one of the first times we managed to get all of chapter together during the pandemic, after ensuring everyone was vaccinated and staying safe, and it was really great seeing everyone in person again.

Kappa Phi Lambda has not only given me the space and support system to grow, but it has also given me a sense of belonging. Sisters are always there for me and there is no other group of people on campus that I feel more at home with.

From the first rush event that I attended – the Cultural Potluck – I immediately felt welcome thanks to the warm smiles of sisters, who all spoke to me with genuine interest and kindness. The women of Kappa Phi Lambda are driven, passionate, and confident. My sisters inspire me to be proud of who I am and where I’m from.

  • Although I was a sxster of KPL for only a little more than a year, it was enough time to really get to know sxsters as both friends and family. I really loved spending time with each sxster, whether it was a study night, service event, or a fun birthday celebration. Even now that I am an alum, this sxsterhood continues to provide me with connections to other sxsters from everywhere, opportunities to improve my professionalism in the real world, and a family of great people to communicate with. I owe a lot to this sorority that has given me space and courage to grow as a confident and happy person.

  • Before joining Kappa Phi Lambda, I was lacking a sense of belonging at UF and seriously considering transferring schools to be closer to home. Since joining, I now have a home away from home and a support system like I could have never imagined. I even have an amazing big sister that’s always there for me which is such a new thing for me since I’m the oldest sibling and cousin in my family! Becoming part of this eternal sisterhood is the best decision I’ve made in college so far.

  • My favorite Kappa tradition is our weekly get togethers on Thursday nights. A few sisters and I get together every week to hang out informally outside of the sorority. We use this time to relax and catch up with each other’s personal lives as well as spend time with people outside Kappa Phi Lambda, allowing us to socialize with others. This time is really special to me because it is a testament that even outside of formal events, sisters genuinely enjoy spending time together.

  • Kappa Phi Lambda is not only an amazing support system, but also a kindhearted family. Throughout all of the hardships I’ve faced, from being overwhelmed by my involvements to just needing a voice at 2AM, I know I can always count on my sisters to pick up when I call.

  • Kappa Phi Lambda has gifted me a home in which I can be myself. I am forever grateful for this support system in which sisters are not only there for each other’s highs, but are also the shoulders they lean on during their lows. Despite doubts within myself, sisters are forever loyal and trusting of my abilities, always pushing me to be my best. I always look forward to creating even more lifelong memories with sisters by my side.

Whenever I doubted myself, there were always sisters there to pick me back up and remind me of what I’m capable of. Through my accomplishments, I had sisters by my side to celebrate with me. With this eternal sisterhood, I know that I’ll never be alone.

  • I was always discouraged about joining a sorority even before I came to college, mainly because of the stereotypical stories I see and hear about them. But theses stories we see or hear are not always applicable to every one of them. I found this out after I met and joined Kappa Phi Lambda. They brought me home, watched and helped me grow, and provided me with the best sisterhood and family that I could ever ask for.

    Chi Class, Spring 2016

  • If you met me before I became a part of this eternal sisterhood, you’d be ashamed of how antisocial and unmotivated I was. Don’t let it be a stereotype that only extraverts belong in sororities. I’m a full-blown introvert and I am honestly so grateful for what Kappa Phi Lambda has given me. In just one semester, I have grown so much professionally and emotionally — meanwhile developing irreplaceable bonds with the most unexpected people.

  • When I think of my best decision for myself as a whole, I remember the moment I decided to join Kappa Phi Lambda. Not only did I meet some of the most caring, supportive, and empowering women but also I created bonds that will last a lifetime.

    Chi Class, Spring 2016

  • I am most grateful for is the support sisters have shown me. Not only do we celebrate our triumphs together but we also lift each other up from our low points. It is one of the sweetest feelings when a sister offers kind words or a shoulder to lean on when you’re in need. Those moments are what make this sisterhood so special and worthwhile.

    Sigma Class, Fall 2013

  • Joining Kappa has given me more than I could ever imagined. I came for the sisterhood and that’s exactly what I got, plus so much more. I got a support system that encouraged me to push my limits and reach for higher heights. Kappa Phi Lambda has given me opportunities to enhance my leadership skills and become more confident in both social and business settings. My emotional intelligence has increased ten-fold as has my professionalism. But most importantly, I gained a Greek community and life long friendships, both within and outside of UF. The experiences and memories I have had through this organization are unforgettable and has shaped and molded my college career. This was, by far, my best decision in college and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

    — Kaitlyn Rewis *Cavalry*

    Upsilon Class, Spring 2015

  • Kappa Phi Lambda was the first place on campus I was finally able to call home away from home. Coming to UF, I was lonely and never felt fully accepted in any social group. However, after crossing Spring 2015, I know that no matter where I am, whether I’m in Gainesville or half way around the world, I’ll always have these group of ladies I can laugh with (or at haha), perform beside, shed tears with, and overcome any obstacle that may come our way. Kappa has taught me to open my eyes to accept and understand a bigger world full of so many diversified people. I’ve come a long way since joining, mentally and emotionally, and I don’t regret any of it. It’s definitely the best decision I’ve made here on campus and in my life thus far.

    Rho Class, Spring 2013

  • Coming into college, I wanted to leave a mark at UF that was meaningful. Finding out about Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority Inc. and getting out of my comfort zone to recruitment was the best decision I made. Sometimes you just need to do things for yourself and hope for the best. I gained sisterhood that I know will always be there for me no matter what. I gained so much confidence, leadership skills and networking opportunities through the sorority.

    Rho Class, Spring 2013

  • I’ve never been a sorority type of girl. This mindset took a turn for the better once I entered college, however. I realized that I wanted to become a part of an organization that I can call my home away from home. I knew that being a part of a sorority was definitely the way to go… But which sorority? Everything about Kappa Phi Lambda drew me in to this wonderful group of girls that I now call my sisters. From the red that screams independence and fearlessness. The pillars that upheld what I believed in. To the girls within KPL that made me believe that sisterhood is nothing short of real and infinite.

    — Thuy Tu *Dissidia*

    Rho Class, Spring 2013

  • Being in Kappa Phi Lambda not only allowed me to see the aesthetics of different cultures, but also gave me the confidence and strength to believe in myself and to strive to be the best person that I can.

    Xi Class, Fall 2011

  • Without Kappa Phi Lambda, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Before joining, I was content living within the bounds I set on myself. Now I am blessed with limitless strength to chase my dreams hundreds of miles away from home all thanks to the unending support of sisters both locally and nationally.

    Nu Class, Spring 2011

  • Joining Kappa was a moment I decided to follow a whim (or perhaps a subconscious hunch of the adventures to come) that ultimately turned out to be one of the greatest achievements of my collegiate experience. I joined for the cultural diversity and feeling of inclusiveness along with the networking opportunities but I received so much more and had the chance to contribute in ways I never thought would be possible. Even 10 years later I still enjoy exploring the depths of this Sisterhood and watching it flourish!
