    About Me:

Hi, my name is Kailey! I am a biochemistry major, with minors in anthropology and plant cellular and molecular biology, aiming for a career in pharmacy. I was adopted from China at eleven months and have been living in Florida ever since. My hobbies include crocheting, reading, and, more recently, sewing. I like sleeping, plants, chocolate, and traveling. Most of my travels have been mainly within the United States, but I hope to change that in the future.

Why Kappa Phi Lambda? I first discovered Kappa Phi Lambda through a friend. After going to recruitment events, I realized that it was an organization that I wanted to be a part of. What initially drew me in was the sisterhood that existed within Kappa Phi Lambda. The environment that was created, even during recruitment, was comforting. The sisters were extremely welcoming and aimed to connect with others. At that point, I knew that I wanted to surround myself with those who had that kind of energy. Additionally, I was attracted by Kappa Phi Lambda's propensity to promote and create awareness of Asian culture. Being adopted and growing up with a lack of Asian culture has encouraged me to learn more about where I was born. Kappa Phi Lambda fosters and supports Asian culture, providing people like me an opportunity to understand and appreciate it.

    About Me:

Born in the Philippines, grew up near Orlando, Florida. My greatest passions are creative writing and learning foreign languages. I also enjoy traveling, trying new foods, reading fantasy/contemplative fiction, hiking, listening to EDM/indie music, playing Dungeons & Dragons, and cuddling my cat Pumpkin. I adore narrative-driven video games and am passionate about advocating for accessibility in gaming. Currently, I work as a Content Strategist in Tampa, and when I'm not on the job, I'm probably worldbuilding, doing Duolingo, practicing the harp, going to a concert, or immersed in a game/book.

    Why Kappa Phi Lambda?

As a sophomore transfer to UF, I sought lasting relationships, an avenue to foster womxn's empowerment, and a way to stay connected with my Filipino heritage. Kappa Phi Lambda gave me all of that, and more. This sxsterhood inspires me to reach higher and unapologetically be myself.

    Testimonial:

From the first rush event that I attended – the Cultural Potluck – I immediately felt welcome thanks to the warm smiles of sxsters, who all spoke to me with genuine interest and kindness. The womxn of Kappa Phi Lambda are driven, passionate, and confident. My sxsters inspire me to be proud of who I am and where I’m from.

    About Me:

I'm just an overthinking girl from South Florida who loves to eat, travel, talk, meet new people, and experience the best parts of life with my close friends, even if it's a spontaneous adventure at 3 AM. Through being heavily involved with the Asian American Student Union, mainly CASA, the Union of Vietnamese Student Associations of the Southeast, and business organizations like Alpha Kappa Psi and FLA, I've learned more about myself and my desire to be an advocate for change. I thrive when seeking discomfort and think it's important to be an empathetic person, especially in such a diverse world. I love to appreciate the simple things in life and you can find me saying "bet" to any opportunity to try something new. I'm ready to take on the world with my sisters and to make lasting memories with them!

    Why Kappa Phi Lambda?

Coming to college, I knew that I wanted a close support system that I could grow personally and professionally with while being my genuine self. I wanted people that I could connect to on a deeper level in an environment where we would inspire and motivate one another. By my sophomore year, I decided that the Kappas that I already knew were people that I got along with and could always depend on. They never treated me different even though I was not one of their sisters at the time. Their welcoming and authentic personalities drew me in and I can truly say that I've found a home at UF. I'm confident that our sisterhood will last beyond college and that I feel like I am part of something bigger than myself.

    About Me:

Heyo my name is Ashley 🙂 I'm a Thai and Lao multimedia creative from Southwest Florida! I was born in Rochester, New York before moving down to Florida. I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to memes, anime, Studio Ghibli, and Pokémon. I also enjoy taking 4 hour long naps, absorbing ramen into my system, and spending countless hours re-watching my favorite anime shows. I was involved with the Korean Undergraduate Student Union (KUSA) throughout my undergraduate career, Sparks Magazine, and I enjoy dancing (choreographing and taking part in sets). I aspire to one day work in the entertainment industry (gaming would be fun hehe) as a multimedia designer!

    Why Kappa Phi Lambda?

I joined Kappa Phi Lambda as a way of grounding myself and finding a support system. I've had close friends throughout college but I felt like it was time to switch things up. I was able to step outside of my comfort zone and try something new, which ended up being one of the best decisions I've made in college. I am so thankful for my sisters and I look forward to making so many memories with everyone because I know they'll always have my back.

    About Me:

I am originally from southern California and moved to Florida at the age of 7 but I am blessed to be able to visit my childhood home annually. I have a passion for advocacy and human rights issues. I love traveling, hearing other folxs' stories, going to live shows/concerts, and baking goods for my friends. I value personal growth, sustainable living, and treating others kindly. I also am obsessed with sunrises, eating/making breakfast foods, and quality orange juice. A fun fact about me is that I can only tolerate purified water and I prefer it cold.

    Why Kappa Phi Lambda?

I decided to join KPL pretty late in the game (I was a junior when I became a sister), but I have always been interested because I was friends with sisters before I joined. I loved that sisters in KPL were always welcoming and friendly to me regardless of the fact that I wasn't a sister. I wanted to join Kappas for the sisterhood and the strong girl group I never had growing up. I also joined because I knew Kappas could be the strong support group that I was searching for.

    Why Kappa Phi Lambda?

Even though I rushed second semester of my freshman year, but the connection between KPL and me started as early as the first month of my college. I found out that I randomly took photos of KPL performance at MGC showcase without knowing it was KPL. And Join KPL is the best decision I've ever made. No regrets!
