Hi! I'm Grace and I'm from Dunedin, Florida. At UF, I'm involved in a faith-based service organization called Thou Mayest, in addition to Gators for Refugee Medical Relief. I love to help others in any way that I possibly can, which is one of the main reasons why I want to open my own clinic in Myanmar in the future. Some fun facts about me are that I love watching Korean dramas, traveling, and trying new foods! :)

    Why KPL?

My interest in KPL began after attending the first recruitment event in Fall 2021 where I spoke to so many kind and genuine sisters who I felt so comfortable around, despite meeting them for the first time. What I grown to love the most about KPL is how sisters will always be there for you whenever, and they will always be your biggest supporters.

    About Me:

Hellooo! My name is Natalie and I was born and raised in south Florida. Fun fact I’ve never seen snow! I love to travel to different countries and experience the different cultures. I’ve been to Vietnam, Japan, and Hong Kong over the past summers, and I can’t wait to travel more. In my free time I enjoy a comforting day at home lounging around and playing online games with friends. I am majoring in computer engineering, and with my major I aspire to be someone who can make a difference in everyone’s daily life!

    Why KPL?

I chose KPL because I knew it was everything I wanted from my time at the University of Florida. Kappa Phi Lambda has brought me closer to so many amazing individuals as a sister. It was a place that fostered Asian culture and women empowerment. The sisterhood has also inspired me to pursue goals I wouldn’t have thought of before.

    About Me:

Hihi! My name is Emily and I am an international student from Taipei, Taiwan! I love anything involved with the visual arts and aspire to work in the animation industry after I graduate. Some of my hobbies include thrifting, digital art and painting with acrylic, gouache or watercolor! Fashion is also a passion of mine and I am currently learning to incorporate more sustainable clothing in my wardrobe.

    Why KPL?

I decided to rush Kappas because I wanted to be part of a sisterhood where I could call home. Coming into college as an international student, I was overwhelmed by the large campus and settling into a new environment. Sisters immediately made me feel welcomed during my first rush event and seeing how everyone shared such a close bond was what pushed me to join. I have received nothing but love and support in the short time I've been a sister and I am eternally grateful for that.

Some of my hobbies include making beaded rings, singing, playing games on my switch, and watching horror movies, anime, and Studio Ghibli movies. A fun fact about me is that I absolutely love animals (especially weird reptiles and amphibians) and actually have a pet tortoise, three frogs, and an axolotl :P I also have a dog named Chili who is super unphotogenic but I promise is sorta cute in real life!

    Why KPL?

My roommate and extremely close family friend My Nhi Anna Tran *Sunglow* was the one who introduced me to Kappas. I knew I wanted to be involved in college so when I went to rush events and saw how welcoming and friendly everyone was, I felt super comfortable and loved the sense of community. The individuals I’ve met through this sorority have encouraged me to grow and improve while embracing my identity.

    About Me:

Hiii, I’m Wen Jie! I’m a pretty chill person but I can also be very energetic if I want to. Throughout undergrad, I have been pretty involved in the American American Student Union community, especially the Chinese American Student Association. There, I found a welcoming family that pushed me to go out of my comforts zone and gave me a space to grow and give back. Outside of school, I like to watch Chinese variety shows, paint, do martial arts, and hang out with people I love. I really enjoy spontaneous adventures, trying new foods, and traveling! A fun fact about me is I like dancing with friends on top of garages at night hehe.

    Why KPL?

Coming to college, I thought about joining a sorority because I wanted a close-knit group of friends that genuinely care for each other throughout every step of life. However, at that time, I didn’t know much about Kappas. Coming back to campus my junior year after being home for the pandemic, I was ready to try something new. I knew a few sisters in Kappas, but it was through my AASU big, Carmen Lo *basiLLisk*, who invited me to a recruitment event where I got a better insight of Kappas and the brilliant, confident ladies I aspired to be one day. I am proud to say that Kappas has given me so much more than I thought it would already! The continuous support system, both personally and professionally, along with the passion sisters exemplify in everything they do, inspires me to better myself every day.

    About Me:

Hiya! I'm Izin and I was born and raised in Orlando! I'm a soft, easy-going, wearing-my-heart-on-my-sleeve type of gal. One of my favorite things to do is spending quality time with my loved ones <3 I absolutely love anything art-related, such as painting and doodling, and I appreciate anything aesthetically pleasing. I am big on the performing arts as I played the violin and sporadically pick up my ukulele to learn random songs, and I also love theatre and musicals! Music is a huge part of my life and I love listening to chill R&B, anime/kdrama OSTs, One Direction throwbacks, and anything in between. I am obsessed with avocado toast, napping and chilly weather. You can probably find me watching an insane amount of tik tok and laughing to myself. I currently work as a nursing assistant at UF Shands and in the future, my goal is to attend PA school! I aspire to make a positive difference in people's lives.

    Why KPL?

Kappa Phi Lambda is the sisterhood and community I've been looking for. As I neared the end of my college career, I knew there was something missing and I was looking for a way that I could continue my growth as an individual. I was a bit hesitant to come out to recruitment events, but I will never regret my decision to do so. I felt so welcomed by sisters, both those I had never met and those that I had known from before. I was inspired by their passion, work ethic, kindness, and more - all of which drew me in. I'm so happy and grateful to be a part of this wonderful sisterhood that surrounds me with love, will always be supporting my true self, and makes me even more proud of my culture. I know that even after undergrad, I'll continue to be a part of something bigger than myself.
